Dear F,

I'm enjoying your book, truly I am. I'm nearly half way through and have found it very informative.

But, and I'm sorry I have to raise this point, why so many difficult and/or obscure words? I don't consider myself dumb nor do I consider myself anywhere near as smart as you (obviously), but at one stage, in the space of four pages or so, I had to look up close to fifteen words, virtually all I'd never even heard of. I mean, surely you could find other words that lay people could understand. And, as much as I like archaic words, I'm not really sure they're usage is suitable in this book. But then again, you've written books, you have degrees and professorships.

I do think I'll finish your book. Well, I'll try. And just a thought, but maybe your word usage contributed to the (much) reduced price of your book. I mean, if people browse and see the way you write, and so many unusual words...who can be fucked, really? (It really does read as a text book that belongs in a university and not in a general bookstore.)
