Maybe next time, To0l

2006-08-29 - 10:49 p.m.

I've not been to a concert for some years (due to my nervousness in crowds and general dislike of people) so last Friday I was about to change that and buy a ticket to see To0l, who are coming here early next year.

I wasn't able to get to a Ticketm@ster agency as I had to work so I decided I'd phone the ticket number. So, as I'm sure you can guess, the number was engaged from 9am, when the tickets offically went on sale, till 11.24am, when I finally got through.

Well, got through that is, to a recorded message saying all tickets had been sold. No real surprise there as I know last time the band toured the tickets sold out very quickly. I knew it'd happen again this time but the difference is they're playing at a rather large outdoor place this tour.

So on Monday I tried calling a place that sells tickets at about $10-15 above face value, something that wouldn't have bothered me. I've used them before, no worries. No luck this time.

Which brings me to these points:1/ Ticketm@ster still act, after all these years, like they own the world. The arrogance of them is staggering...And how about selling tickets on a weekend when the majority of people don't work.
2/ People buying tickets, as I've always said, should only be allowed to buy two, maybe four at the maximum. None of this one person buying 10 tickets at a time. In my opinion it's unfair on others.

So apparently To0l tickets were selling on eB@ay Friday morning for $400 a ticket for the concert in Melbourne and $700 a ticket for the concert in Sydney. I've been waiting some years to see them but there's no way I'm paying that. And the ironic thing is, scalping in any way shape or form is supposedly against To0l's outlook on things. I know bands don't have anything to do with scalpers and the like but I think To0l should release the live DVD they've been talking about for years so those of us who miss out seeing them live can at least see them in some way.

(And To0l are apparently playing the BDO when they're here. I know most people my age refuse to go as it's full of pissed, high young 'uns making fuckwits of themselves and making people my age feel old. So no thank you. And I'm not paying a lot of money to sit [or rather stand] through a shitload of bands who I really don't want to see.)
